Big Bay Coast Area Council

Establishment and Development

The Aniwa Area Council (AC) was established in 1981. Initially, our operations were conducted from a semi-permanent building that served as the Area Council office. In 2009, construction began on a new, more permanent office building, which was completed in 2010. This new facility has greatly improved our capacity to serve the community.

Official Opening

The new Aniwa Area Council office building was officially opened by Honorable Nakou Natuman, President of the Tafea Provincial Government. This marked a significant milestone in our journey towards enhanced local governance and community development.

Our Objectives

Aniwa Area Council has set ambitious goals for the next 3-5 years, focusing on:

  • Improving local infrastructure, including roads and community buildings.
  • Enhancing educational facilities and resources.
  • Expanding healthcare services and ensuring better access for all residents.
  • Promoting sustainable development and environmental conservation.

Solar Street Lights Initiative

One of our notable achievements is the installation of solar street lights throughout the council area. This project not only enhances safety and security but also demonstrates our commitment to sustainable energy solutions.

Future Plans

We are continuously working on various projects aimed at improving the quality of life for our residents. This includes the construction of new community facilities, upgrading existing infrastructure, and implementing programs to boost local economic growth.

Community Involvement

We believe in the power of community involvement. Our residents play a crucial role in shaping the future of Aniwa, and we encourage everyone to participate in council meetings and development initiatives.
